Selamun aleykum. Meded Ya Sayiddi, Ya Sultan Evliya,
Mevlana Sheykh Nazim al-Hakkani. Meded.

Our way is association. Through association people will find out,
they will know and they will learn how to live. How to live in
Dunya, in this world, and how to prepare himself for the hereafter
life. We have been created from our Lord Allah subhana wa ta’ala to
know Him and to worship Him. It is a sad thing to see 21st century
man, from the lowest to the top, from the poorest to the rich, from
the ignorant to the most educated ones, running topspeed only for
the world, the benefits of the world and the very small worldly
pleasures. Our life is running topspeed also and we are running to
our end. Everyday that is passing is taking one day away from our
lives and we are getting closer every single day to our graves and
we are not realizing it. Mankind is not realizing it because it is
only busy with this world.

Whatever you are busy with, that’s what you are going to find,
that’s what man can find. The Creator Allah subhana wa ta’ala has
given us enough intelligence to understand this world and to
understand the hereafter life. But because we are so busy
concentrating only on this life we are not having time even to think about the
hereafter life.

So the 21st century people may reach to the peak of technology,
luxury lifestyle, luxury cars, luxury houses, luxury this, luxury
that but we are finding that very few people have peace in their
hearts and everyone is worrying. The rich is worrying, the poor is
worrying, the officials are worrying, the presidents are worrying
and everyone is worrying. They are shivering. Their own fear is
taking them and now they have no peace anywhere. Believers became
like that and unbelievers became like that. No peace. Peace can only come to a
man through his Lord to the heart. That’s the only way to get peace. If you
don’t have peace in your heart, you can have all the luxury around but when you
sit down and you start thinking, you cannot have too much peace again because
the reality is facing you saying, “Today, tomorrow, the next day, or next year
or ten years from now, Azrail is waiting.” The Angel of Death is waiting for
you, for us. So that cannot leave you in peace then because it is unknown.

When something is unknown to man, man has fear from it. So what do
we have to do? We have to look to learn that unknown. It is like
when you have a dog. For you it’s a pussycat but for a stranger he will never
come near that dog because he is unknown to that stranger and he doesn’t know
what it’s going to do. So death is unknown. When you start knowing, when you
start realizing, when you start understanding, then it is not that fearful. And
when you start building relationship with your Creator… Everyone is trying to
build relationship with each other but mankind today, the majority of the
mankind became betrayers. They are betraying each other, they are betraying
their love to each other. They are betraying their trust to each other for
others or for very cheap prices. So that is another problem for 21st century man
because there is no peace. There is no peace because no one is really trusting
each other anymore. There is no trust. Trust is gone.

So we are watching, going around the world, watching how people are behaving,
how they are living. And those people who are believers, we are watching them
and they are in their own problems, they are fighting and arguing with each
other again for worldly benefits. So this world is making us to become enemies
to each other. If we don’t know where our limits are then we can become enemies.
If we know where our limits are then it will be different. The best knowledge
for man is to know his limits. The best knowledge for man is to know where his
knowledge ends, where his limit ends. That is his knowledge. And you need that.
Man needs that.

When you know that then Allah is saying to us, “If you live with the knowledge
that you know then I will teach you the knowledge you don’t know.” So if we live
according to the knowledge, the worldly knowledge that we have learned here and
there and we live with it correctly, then our Lord is going to teach us
something through our heart if it necessary or if it is necessary through other
people’s trainings, we will find our way. We will find that peace that our Lord
is sending down. He has created us. He loves us and he is continuously giving us
everything but we are not responding to that love. Responding to that love is at
least to say, at least to sit five minutes a day to say, “Oh my Lord! You are
watching me, you are seeing me and I am not seeing you. You are loving me but I
am loving you too.” At least just say that. That’s the lowest.

So the more the love of the Creator starts overtaking your heart, then all other
fake loves go away. Then you will be able to build better friendship first with
those people who are connected through their hearts to the Lord. Then when you
are building connections with them you will be able to understand the other ones
who have no connection. Then you will be able to reach to them because then you
are not looking to gain something anymore. You are looking to give.

Very few people now in the world are looking to give. Mankind is only looking to
take, take, take. When you start learning how to give too, then different peace
and different love starts coming to your heart because our Lord is continuously
giving. He is giving to believers and giving to unbelievers, giving to those who
are accepting Him and giving to those who are not accepting Him, giving to those
who are worshipping Him and giving to those who are cursing Him. He is
continuously giving. He is not separating. When the sun is coming out every
morning, it is reaching to every house. It doesn’t matter whether the people in
the house are believers or unbelievers. The sun is not separating. It is
reaching to everyone’s house.

The air. Everyone is breathing the air for free. How much do you think it’s
worth? One hour of oxygen? Somebody was saying to me that there was a movie
where they were opening a can…

(Someone said the name of the movie, `Spaceballs’.)

Spaceballs? They were selling the air and they were opening the can like a
coca-cola bottle. Hmm. Think, think. When we have something in our hands that is
so precious, something so valuable and we are not knowing what we have. And when
we are not knowing the value then we start running. We are running not because
it is what we want to but looking at other people we say, “Oh, this one is
running, let me run here, let me do this, let me do that.” But when you start
knowing what you have been created for and when you start understanding the
value that Allah is giving, then you will be able to start being thankful to the
Lord of the Heavens and when we are thankful to Him He will increase the favors
on us.

It’s not that how much you work and how intelligent you are, that’s how much you
are going to get. No. He has to open it. If He opens it then it starts coming to
you from the sky and from under your feet. If He doesn’t open it, you run, you
run, you run, you use every tricks, in these days every evil thinking, this and
that, how you are going to fool others, everything is coming to your hands and
before you touch it, it starts disappearing from left and right again. No
blessings are coming with anything that people have anymore. They cannot eat
properly, they cannot sleep properly, they cannot enjoy, nothing. You know that
because someway somehow we have some people around us from our own family
members who are in that kind of situation. And Sheytan, the evil is not letting
Mankind to go down to prostration because when a man goes down to prostration,
it is a sign of weakness. And when you are showing your weakness to your Lord,
Allah is saying, “Support that one.” Allah is saying to His angels, “Support
that one. That one is accepting his weakness. Support that one.” So when the
support starts coming to you, now you know that you may be the most powerful in
this world but you are still weak, so you go down (in prostration) again.

When it comes to the power of the Lord Allah subhana wa ta’ala, your power and
our power is nothing. If He doesn’t permit (Sheykh inhales deeply), the air
doesn’t come in and you will die. It’s so easy. People are thinking so many
things today but if He doesn’t permit, if He says to that one, “Don’t let the
air to go in” you cannot breath the air. He is the Supreme Ruler. Everything
that He has created, He has authority on them. And if He doesn’t permit us
(Sheykh exhales swiftly), to give that air out, we die. So we are prisoners
between two breaths in reality. If He does not say, “In” it does not go in and
if He does not say, “Come”, it does not come out. So we are so close to that but
we are running away from it. Instead of running away we must try to learn. When
we start learning we will live in this world correctly, whatever has been given
to us of life. However many breaths of life has been given to you, that’s how
much you are going to live. You cannot take one breath more or one less. It’s
not how many years you live or it’s not how sick you are or how healthy you are.
No. It is how many breaths of air have been designated for you, that’s how much
you are going to take.

In the beginning we said we don’t know how to live in this world. Yes. We don’t
know how to live in this world because mankind is spending his energy in so many
different places that instead of taking one breath (in every specified unit of
time) he is taking ten. So he is shortening his life. If it is designated for
you that you will breath the air 40,000 times today and if you do it 80,000
times, then you miss tomorrow. Tomorrow is gone. You finished tomorrow’s life
today already. So it is the shortening of life. The life becomes short. This is
a knowledge. This knowledge is not in every book. This knowledge is coming from
the Divine Presence to the heart for those hearts that are open. If the heart is
open, anywhere they look, they see and they can understand because of the
connection between the heart and the Divine Presence.

So after learning death and what is waiting for us there are so many other
things to learn. And then who knows maybe while you are sitting in this world
you may watch and see the Paradise too. They will bring the Paradise in front of
you. There is a very thin layer of veil standing between you and Paradise. So
first we have to learn how to live. Then we have to become servants to our Lord
and start worshipping Him properly. The way He wants us to worship. All this is
again for us. For our own progress. For a man to become a lawyer he has to go to
school. You cannot become a lawyer if you don’t go to school and say the next
day, “I am a lawyer” or “I am a doctor.” You have to go, you have to train for
years to be able to do that job.

There is another secret that Allah is giving us here. Whatever is in this head,
the eyes, ears, nose, breathing, feeling, everything is here, in this (head)
part (of the body). So when that veil opens up then you will be able to see
things that are not ordinary, it’s not normal or worldly. But that takes some
work. You have to work a little bit and that’s not the work of Dunya and you
cannot buy that with money or fame or if you say, “I am this one” or “I am that
one.” Tsk, you can be a president; it doesn’t matter. You can be a king; it
doesn’t matter. You have to follow those who are already connected with the
Divine Presence. You have to do what they say to you to be able to remove the
veils that are standing in your heart. Otherwise, if a man is following his ego,
he is not following his Lord because the ego is the enemy of the Lord. Allah
created the ego and it became disobedient. Then He created the spirit from
Himself. The spirit that is in you is coming from the Lord of the Heavens.
That`s why the Christians went one step forward, not rightly, wrongly to say,
“Jesus is God.” He is a man. Holy? Yeah. You are holy too. The spirit that is
given to you is very holy. It’s not yours. It’s coming from the Lord of the
Heavens and it is making your activities. As soon as that spirit comes out of
your body, you are not moving anymore. Take it, drop it to the hole and close it
quickly. The spirit is giving life and the spirit is keeping it fresh and good
smelling. As soon as the spirit comes out, the dirtiness of the ego starts
appearing. So you cannot have that around. You have to bury it inside the dirt.

So Allah subahana wa ta’ala created man only to know him and to worship him
saying, “I have created you and the Jinn only to know Me and to worship Me.” So
today the 21st century people built a giant machinery that is swallowing
everyone in it and no one is really knowing how to come out from it. The only
way to come out from it is simple lifestyle. If you are living simply, a simple
life, and if you cut your credit cards and throw them to the garbage, you are
going to be able to live simply because you are not going to go charging money
non-stop and worry how you are going to pay the bills.

Here’s `X’. Twenty years old, he already spent 200,000 dollars. Twenty years
old. Where is the money gone? Eh, it’s gone, finished. And after he finished the
money he came to me. (Sheykh recites a verse in Turkish). He has nothing in his
pocket he came to me. Why didn’t you come when you had 200,000? See? So
sometimes when the money falls into the hands of those people who do not know
how to control the money, it brings their end too. It prepares their end. Yeah.
But if he didn’t have that and he wasn’t using it for that kind of lifestyle, it
would have been better now. But man is always wanting for something, thinking it
is good for him. So some things are not good to ourselves. It is better to live
a simple lifestyle in these days and in this world. Whatever is necessary to
live on, that’s what we should have and not have so much to worry about. Don’t
worry so much. We just filled our stomachs here, we ate, we finished, we have a
shelter on our heads now and Allah is Kerim for tomorrow. Allah is the Generous
One for tomorrow. We prepare our own plans but if our plans do not fit to His
plans then it’s not going to work. So we have to know also how to correct our
planning and how to live for Him, not for our ego and not for this Dunya.

You cannot learn that anymore in churches, mosques or synagogues or those kinds
of places. Those places are just there to worship. In these days it is not even
that anymore. People just go there to make show. All those worship places,
doesn’t matter what you call them, mosques, churches, this and that, people are
just there, not worshipping, cheating themselves for once a day or two times a
day or once a week or two times a week or three times a week. We are in need of
our Lord everyday, every hour and every minute. He is not in need of us; but we
are in need of Him. And we must look to tie that relationship with our Lord
every single day into stronger chains. This way we will not break away. Once you
learn, once you know that you are in need of Him then you will prepare yourself
to have a better relationship and tie yourself to your Lord more strongly.

These kinds of associations are for those people who are looking to find
themselves and who are looking to find their Lord. If you are looking to find
Dunya, the world, we don’t have too much to give. Dunya is out there, world is
out there but believe me I passed from it by 19 and I ended up in these
mountains. That’s the best Dunya because out there now is jungle. Everywhere it
became jungle. If you look with these eyes you would see that it’s a jungle. But
if you are still flying in the air you may see differently. You have to look
with reality and you have to understand what’s really happening in the world
politics and world movements today everywhere. Then you will be able to
understand saying, “Oh, it’s not the way I think it is.”

But whatever happens to the world, the world is there. Whatever
happens to us, we are the ones who are losing. We are living today
and we don’t know if we are going to make it by tomorrow morning.
Nobody here knows if they are going to make it by tomorrow morning.
If we make it to tomorrow morning, what is it that the Lord of the
Heavens wants from us? You have a program for living in this world.
A couple of people in this world are living without a program. Everyone else has
programs. Either getting up to go to work or they have different plans. So what
is the plan that our Lord has prepared for us tomorrow? First when we start
thinking and knowing that, then we will fix our planning daily according to that
plan. Otherwise, when our plan does not fit to His plan, then we are already
disobedient because we are living differently that what He wants from us.

So inshallah ar-Rahman, slowly but surely, we are going to learn how to live,
how to connect ourselves with your Lord inshallah before we come out from this
life, from this body. And that’s what we need, to connect ourselves to our Lord,
the Lord of the Heavens before we come out from this body. But we should try
harder not to end before coming out but earlier so that we may reach to other
people. You may reach to other people you love. Because once you know what’s
happening then you will be able to make connection with others more easily. But
if you don’t know then you cannot say anything. You are not permitted to say
anything because you don’t know. So we have to find out first to be able to
reach to others.

Selamun aleykum. Meded Ya Sayiddi, Ya Sultan Evliya,
Mevlana Sheykh Nazim al-Hakkani. Meded.

Holy Prophet (saw) and all prophets came to teach people how to find
peace in the hearts. If there is no peace in the heart, it cannot
give peace to the body. When the heart is peaceful the body will be
peaceful too. All prophets and all religions in reality are teaching
people how to find that peace and how to make a smooth transmission
from this world to the other side, passing smoothly and easily. All
these religions, the orders of the religions, the orders of doings
and not doings, the obligations, all these are to make it easy for us
to move from one side to another side.

Holy Prophet (saw) is saying, within one word he put everything in,
he was talking to his Sahaba and he says to them, “There is a piece
in your body. If that one is sick the whole body is sick. If that
one is good the whole body is good, affecting the whole body.”
Another miracle of the Prophet (saw) of course, he held his fist and
he said, “Listen carefully O my Sahaba! This is the heart.” And he
showed his fist. That is another secret which today’s science and
medicine is finding now, that every man has their hearts as big as
their fists. (`X’ is checking his heart saying, “My heart is
bigger.” –Sheykh smiles and the listeners laugh–. It’s okay. A
bigger heart contains more in it. Elhamdulillah.)

So when the heart is good the whole body is good and when the heart
is bad the whole body is bad. Physically, when the heart is good the
whole body is good. If the heart is bad and if the heart is failing,
they say, heart attack! They say, “Sit! Don’t move! Quickly bring
him to the hospital and keep him like that until then.” Like a
robot, not moving, because any movement that you make it will now do
damage to the heart more and more and more, and if the heart is gone
then what can we do? You are a heartless person. (Sheykh smiles).
Then you cannot live.

So the heart is important. Tomorrow in the Judgment Day if the heart
is not good you are not good for Dunya and you are not good for
Akhirat too. If your heart is not good then your physical form is not
good to go out there (in Dunya) to work, to earn money, to buy and
sell, get a car, fly, this and that you cannot do. The heart is not
good. If the heart is not good you cannot worship, you cannot move
around, you cannot do things (for the sake of Allah). So the most
important is that you must hold the heart good from physical and
spiritual sickness. If the heart is bad and sick physically but
spiritually if it is not sick then at least you can sit and you can
pray inside your heart. You don’t have to make body motions. It’s
acceptable. But if the heart is sick spiritually then you are in

The biggest thing that gets the heart spiritually sick, the main
source, is the love of Dunya. When you have the love of this world
so much in your heart, then that love of the world makes you go
crazy. I know so many who were good people in the beginning, they
did good things, but later you see that the love of the world
becomes so much that they turn to become bad. So many times you are
asking yourself too, “When this person was poor he was a good man.
Now he is rich but he is a bad man, he is a tyrant.” I don’t think
you didn’t meet somebody like that. You met somebody in your life
like that. That’s what happens because the love of Dunya makes the
person become tyrant, arrogant, stubborn, selfish and everything.

So we must keep that heart clean, and the heart is the Throne of
Allah. Allah is saying to us, “You want more peace in your heart?
First put Me in there and look all the peace is coming. If you put
somebody else higher than Me in that heart, that one is not going to
give you any peace. You are going to run to that one but that one is
going to make you a slave.” So many times in so many cases people
are using each other under the name of love saying, “I love you
honey.” Aha! “Give me this, give me that, I want this, I want that.”
You know you cannot do it all but you say, “This one loves me. I
must try.” So you go out killing yourself and after you reach
somewhere that one says to you, “Look, you already expired. Your
body is not good to get out of here anymore. I have to go to
somebody new.” (Sheykh smiles).

It is the same with most women and men. People are using each other
without knowing what real love is. Real love is not limited only to
the physical forms. When people love each other very much, slowly
they get rid of the words, the words disappear and they speak
through the hearts. They love each other so much that when one says
(in his heart), “I wish to have a glass of water”, the other one who
loves that one goes and puts the glass of water in front of him.
Look, now the hearts are speaking. That is the first sign of real
love. Then when the two spirits unite then all the paradises will be
opened to you. You must concentrate on that if you want to find
peace. You must find. You must try. That way then is the easiest way
and the fastest way.

There are so many other ways but they are very long ways. It’s like
if you want to hold your ear, instead of holding it directly with
the closest hand you put your hand around your head and try to hold
the ear from the back of your head. There is no need for it. Take
the easy way, the short way. We have so many other things to do
after that anyway. The love of Dunya has to finish and the love of
Akhirat has to enter. Then the love of Akhirat has to finish and the
love of Allah has to enter. But you didn’t even finish Dunya. How
are you going run to the love of Akhirat? The love of Akhirat cannot
finish that easily. It cannot be that easy.

I heard from my Sheykh who is saying that everyone is going to enter
into Paradise after a certain amount of time. He says that no matter
how bad they are, they are going to enter into their own paradises
and Allah subhana wa ta’ala in 100,000 years will let one window to
be opened for them to see their best time in Dunya, their best
enjoyment in Dunya. And when they see that, right away they get
extremely scared and afraid saying, “Oh our Lord! Don’t turn us back
to that Dunya. That Dunya was only miseries, problems and
sufferings. Please keep us in Paradise.” Allah removes that window
and the paradise that they are in, it becomes 700,000 times more
beloved to them. As soon as that vision opens up they
say, “Alhamdulillah, we did not enter into this Dunya again. We are
in our own paradises.”

It is the same way in this world. If you find a way to speak to
children in their own mother’s wombs… They don’t put cell phones
there now? (Sheykh smiles). But some cell phones are speaking to
them saying, “What are you doing in there?” It says, “Oh, it is the
best life.” You say to that baby, “You are coming out soon.” It
says, “No, I am not coming out. This is my paradise.” It doesn’t
want to come out. As soon as it comes out it starts going “waw,
waw”. Why are you screaming? Because he cannot go back in now. You
say to him some years later, “You are going to die.” He starts
screaming again. You say to him, “Look! You didn’t want to come out
of that womb. Then you come to this world and you say how beautiful
this world is. Now you don’t want to come out of this world to the
paradise that is waiting for you? Foolish one! Wake up to yourself.
You want it or not you are going to come out.” We want it or not, we
entered and we are going to come out.

And we must submit our will to that One who has authority over us if
we want peace. If we don’t want peace then we can say anything. You
can claim that you have created this New York City. You can claim
whatever you want. You can say, “I created the world.” Some say, “I
am the owner of the world.” Some Firauns said, “Enal Rabbul `Ala.”
He was saying to the Egyptian people “Enal Rabbul `Ala.” Whoosh…
they were going down saying, “Yes, you are the biggest Lord.” But
Firaun is gone. He left something. So man today, years later, are
saying, “That Firaun had a lot of money.” No one goes to open
ordinary graves in Egypt. They are running after the graves of the
Firauns, opening and taking everything out. I am watching some from
far away, they are stepping on the bones saying, “You stupid man!
You are taking the world with you huh? Let me crush you a little
bit.” (Sheykh smiles).

This is Dunya. Let me tell you one more thing about the reality of
this Dunya. You don’t hear this always from everywhere but you are
going to hear from me. The value of the world. You have to know what
is the value of the world? What is the value of the world and why
the world has been created? When Adam (as) and Hawa were living in
Paradise, they were eating and drinking everywhere freely, they
didn’t have to work, they didn’t have to run around, they didn’t
have to do anything, everything was coming to them. But that foolish
Sheytan fooled Hawa and she ate from that forbidden tree. As soon as
she ate from the forbidden tree nothing happened to her but because
she loved Adam (as), she was saying, “Mmm… good taste. Let me give
him some to eat too.” So Adam (as) got upset in the Paradise for the
first time saying, “Didn’t Allah say to us not to eat from this
tree? Why did you eat from this tree?” She said, “Don’t get upset ya
Adam, Don’t you see? I ate and nothing happened. It’s good.”

(Sheykh smilingly recited a couple of verses in Turkish)

The desires and the love of the woman broke down the man. Adam (as)
was so strong but he ended up saying, “Okay honey, let me taste.” As
soon as he put that in his mouth and he started chewing, the angel
(Jibreel as) came and touched him saying, “What are you doing?” He
said, “Ohh, what am I doing?” He didn’t swallow. He tried to throw
it out and it came out and got stuck there (at the Adam’s apple).
The woman swallowed. Allah was watching. Now as soon as the grain
from the forbidden tree entered into the body all the peace in the
body started to move right away. You know from experience that
sometimes you feel so good and then you eat some food or some fruit
and right away your stomach starts churning. Huh? You never felt
like that? Sometimes it happens. No? It happened only to me? (Sheykh
smiles and everyone laughs). It happens.

So that’s what happened to Hawa and she started saying, “Oh,
something has to come out. I need to go to the toilet.” They didn’t
know what toilet was before. In paradise there is no toilet. So Hawa
doesn’t know where to go but she knows that something has to come
out. And then Adam (as) started getting the pain saying, “What are
we going to do? We need to go to the toilet.” Paradise is a clean
place. So the angel said to them, “Well, you cannot do it in the
Paradise, that kind of dirtiness. So you need to go down to the
toilet.” (Sheykh laughs). So they were sent down to the toilet.

We are here. As much as we eat, we go to the toilet. The toilets are
always very near to us. It is so dirty but we keep it so near. 21st
century men are putting it inside their bedrooms and now they are
going to make their bedrooms inside the toilet. (Sheykh smiles). I
went to some places where I found it to be such and I asked, “Is
this a living room or is this a toilet.” They said, “No, it’s the
toilet.” I said, “I feel sleepy. It’s so beautiful here.” But it’s a

So 21st century men, knowing and understanding that reality, he
cannot separate himself from that toilet. If he can separate himself
from that toilet, he cannot separate himself from this toilet
(inside our stomachs). (Sheykh holds up a piece of fruit). Look how
beautiful this is. Can one million men together make this? No. If I
put this beautiful fruit inside, one hour later it is going to turn
to become so dirty. Thuu… It smells. Hmm… Run to the toilet. Empty
it out.

So Allah (subanaha wa ta’ala) is ordering us saying, “Make your
toilet in that Dunya as much as you want. When you are clean then
come back to Paradise.” This is the reality of this world. If you
want to love it more then you may do so. (Sheykh smiles).

work. If you want to build this building the foundation is supposed
to be strong. The stronger the foundation is, the stronger the
building is going to be. The stronger your intention is, the
stronger your deed is going to be. So in Islam it’s not only the
deeds that are counted. But the deeds will be counted and rewarded
according to your intentions. What is your intention? You came here.
Why did you come here? What is your intention? Did you come here to
see somebody whom you can talk with to make business? You come here
for the sake of Allah and for the sake of your religion to learn
something. That is good intention. You may find it working for you.
But if you came here for different reasons, you may find it not
working for you. So the intention is important for Muslims.

If you are making a prayer, you must make intention. (You say for
example) “I am making this prayer now, I am making Isha prayer.” The
intention has to be sincere. And when the intention is good, the
deeds usually become good. When the intention is bad the deeds
become bad. But the mercy of Allah is reaching to us from everywhere
that if we have a bad intention and we didn’t commit that
wrongdoing, until the last minute, it still will be forgiven because
you made a wrong intention but you prevented yourself from doing it.
For instance, you make a wrong intention to go kill somebody. You
make all your planning, you make your intention, everything is
strong. Now you took off and you are going there. You came to that
door. Until you take the gun out and pull the trigger, still the
door will be open for forgiveness. So if you realize it and you
say, “I changed my mind. I am not going to kill that person.” You
walk away. All these wrong intentions and wrong planning, because
you changed it, you may receive reward for it… for not doing the
act, the wrong action. But if you have a good intention, (for
instance) you are coming out of your house with the intention to go
somewhere for the sake of Allah to do something good and you were
not able to reach there. Something happens on the way which stops
you, you are still going to be rewarded for that because the
intention was good. When the intention is good, the action whether
you do it or not, will be rewarded. When the intention is bad, until
you commit the action, you will not be punished for it. You may be
rewarded for changing that wrong intention.

So believers must make intention in everything they do and
everything they are going to do. Without intention it is like
shooting without aiming. You are not going to hit your target. You
have to intend. You have to make aim at the target, (Sheykh takes a
deep breath). They tell you in the army, “Hold your breath. Don’t
give it out until you pull the trigger.” Because while you are
giving out the breath and pulling the trigger, it moves. So the
intention is aiming and concentrating, and then by shooting you may
hit your target. Otherwise, you want to hit your target but you are
not aiming. You are turning your head to the other side and you are
taking your shot. Eh! 1% chance you may hit, 99% chance you may not
hit. So what is important for believers, for those people who are
trying to make it better for themselves, for their lives, first
themselves and later to the people around them, must make intentions
for everything that they are doing.

For everything we are doing, we must make good intentions. When the
intentions are good and the actions are not too good… the intention
was good but the action was not good and the result was not good, at
least you may escape because of your intention. So the intention is
important. We must keep our intentions. But we also cannot say, “My
intention is good so I don’t care about my actions.” For actions to
work, now you have to do planning. You have to do certain work, you
have to put out some energy from yourself for that to work.
Otherwise, just intention does not work too. So Islam is good deeds
coming with good intentions. Good intentions support the good deeds.
When your intention is good you may have support to do the good
deeds but if your intentions are bad and you are a good person, they
(Awliya) may turn you not to do bad things. Your intention is good,
you tried your best but you didn’t reach to the good deeds, you
may be rewarded.

So it is important for us, in these days especially. Everywhere we
look, everything we do, every place we go and everything in front of
us, we see, you may not see, but we see that everything is wrong. We
are not finding one thing right when we are looking deep inside of
it to understand by asking, “Is Allah pleased with this action or
not?” Very rarely will you find these days that Allah and His
Prophet (saw) is pleased with the actions that are happening in the
world. People are saying, “We will bring peace.” You cannot
bring peace. It’s not possible. You don’t know what peace is because you have no
peace. Here (Sheykh pointing at the heart) you have no
peace. You don’t know what peace is. Now the peace is according to
your ego. What fits you, you do. What doesn’t fit you, you don’t.
But your ego does not represent the Truth. The ego always represents
the evil. Evil is supporting the ego. Spirit is supported by
intelligence. So a person who says, “I am going to do good”, first
he has to know the tricks and the traps of the ego saying, “Where is
ego fooling me? My intention is good, my aim is good but I am
finding the result is not good.” Ha! That means the ego is fooling
you somewhere somehow. So you have to know the tricks and the traps
of the ego. You have to know whether you have any experience for
what you are doing. Do you have experience for performing an eye
operation? Say, “Your eyes are no good. Let me do an operation on
you.” Your intention is good. But if now you are seeing 50%, after
the operation you are not going to see at all because the person
that is doing the operation is not good. (Sheykh smiles). The
patient who is submitting his will to that one is not good too.

So in Islam, intention and action, both has to be for the sake of
Allah. When you do it for the sake of Allah, to please your Lord,
the result must be good. It has to be good. It is going to come out
to be good. Who are going to be happy with that result? The people
who are happy with their Lord are going to be happy with that
result. Who are going to be unhappy? People who are happy with
Sheytan are going to be unhappy with that result. In these days you
will find very few people happy with the results that Allah is
keeping. Majority goes,

“Tsk, I don’t like it.”

According to what you don’t like it?

“I don’t like this food. I don’t like this bread. I don’t like this
kind of drink, I don’t like these clothes.”

Hmm. You don’t like them. Of course, because you have so many other
ones. That’s why you don’t like it. If you have one bread, you are
going to like it. It’s not that you don’t like it, your ego doesn’t
like it. Your ego is not pleased with it. The first aim and
intention is what? To feed yourself. Not to have luxury but to have
energy. Ha! Then it’s okay. “This bread and this meat containing
this much protein is enough energy for me.” So you will be happy.
But if not, you cannot be happy. So the intentions and the actions
have to be good, then everything else becomes good. If intention is
not good, actions cannot be good. We must concentrate on fixing our
intention, cleaning our intention, and our intention is to be
servants to our Lord.

Man is running. I am asking students here, “What are you doing? What
are you aiming?” (They answer), “To become a doctor, to have degree,
to have this and to have that.” Workers are making intention to
reach and to become bosses. Is that pleasing your Lord? If that is
pleasing your Lord, then do it. If it’s not pleasing your Lord but
pleasing your ego… don’t. It’s not good. The ego will not leave you
until it will take you to the Fire. Whatever is good for your ego
whatever your ego wants, you have to try to do otherwise. If you
want to make progress in Tariqat, in the Way, you must constantly
work against your ego. If you are aiming to be a nominee to be a
human, you must work against your ego. But if you want to reach to
higher stations, it’s not only the forbidden things that you have to
stop now, you have to voluntarily stop from the things that is good
for the ego. You have to do it otherwise. So inshallah ar-Rahman,
when we know this and when we apply it to our lives we will see that
it will work. If otherwise, then it’s not going to work. You can sit
and you can claim as much as you want, you are there you are here,
but it’s not going to work.

So first we have to know what we are, why we are here, who we are,
who sent us here, what is our duty in this world, why we came to
this world, why are we going out of this world, what are our
responsibilities in this world, what is it that we have to do, what
are responsibilities with our Lord and with other that are around
us. We have to know all this. If we don’t know this, it is not
possible to reach to our aim for which we have been created. We
definitely have not been created to be slaves to this Dunya. We have
not been created to be running after the treasures and the pleasures
of this Dunya also. We have been created for the service of our Lord
and we have been created to win back the Paradise that we came out
from. Living in this world must be concentrated on that. We are
making a journey from there to here and from here to there. Everyone
is going to come from there to here, but everyone is not going to go
back to where they came from. Only those go back to their Paradises
who work against their ego and who try to do what their Lord
wants. Those who run to please their ego will not find the way. It’s
not possible. They will not find the way to go back to the paradises
that they came from. But in your spirit, in your nature your Lord
has created you for that. It is longing for that. We must go back to

Real peace is there. It’s not here. You can put as much peace as you
want into this world. You fix it here the problem is going to be
there, you fix it there the problem is going to be there, never is
there going to be peace as the people are thinking and talking. No.
Never! Because Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) is testing people through
different difficulties. If that one is in difficulty, you must be in
treasures and pleasures. When that one’s difficulties finish and
Allah gives him peace, He may put you in difficulties. Who are you
going to go against then? Are you going to go against your Lord
saying, “Why are you giving me this? I am not happy.” You can only
be happy with your Lord when you are holding on tightly to His laws
and to His orders. Then whether things come good or bad, you have no
problem. You will not complain saying, “This is what my Lord wants,
and I am happy with it.” In so many cases you are finding that those
people who are running and screaming, trying to change things are
not the people who are experiencing those difficulties. It is the
people who are outside that are thinking, “They are going to get
some peace from that cake.” As “X” always gets peace from cakes
(Sheykh smiles).

So inshallah, important, very much important, is intention. We must
fix our intentions and when we fix our intentions we may very easily
find our actions and everything around us made fixed. If we don’t
fix our intentions, it is not possible for us to find the things
that are happening around us good. It may be good for a very short
time but you may be knocked down sooner than you think. This life is
very short and at the same time it’s pretty long. The young
generation should not think that they are never going to get old.
Think that you are going to get old. The elderly people should know
that they are not going to become young again. Treat this life
according to that. Then you will win. You have to see it not in
pieces but you have to see the whole picture. “I am here, I am
traveling this road and that is the end. I am going to go there.”
Put yourself out and look where you entered this world, where are
you now, where are you going and what have you done? Look, check and
calculate. You don’t need anybody to check for you. You can check it
for yourself. Sit and calculate. You will know. Don’t cheat
yourself. You cannot cheat yourself.

Lock yourself in a room and say to yourself to your ego, “Look, it’s
only you and I. There’s nobody else. Let’s see. You did this today.
Okay. What was the intention when you were doing this?” Ha. Your
intention was to fool this person to get this. Say to yourself, to
your ego, “Thuu! You are a very bad one.” Say to yourself. Before
anybody tells you say to yourself. Slowly you may find you are
fixing, you are correcting yourself. If you don’t question yourself
and if you are liking what you are doing all the time, then something
is wrong with you because you are a creature, you are a man full
with mistakes. You have to find mistakes. If you don’t find mistakes
then what are you? A prophet? Prophets are gone. They are innocent,
clean. They are gone. Even though the prophets have also been tested
according to their level, they are gone. Are you a saint? It has to
be showing with your actions, with your deeds and with your
intentions if you are (a saint) or not. If you are, then test
yourself according to that level. But if you are a normal person,
then the test has to be according to that. You will find out what
you are doing. You don’t need anybody to test you, to tell you this
right and this is wrong. Judge yourself by yourself and you will
find a voice coming out from your heart saying this is right and
this is wrong. No matter how much others say to you and praise you
saying, “No, this was good”… then you will know, “No, I did wrong.”

In these days people are doing wrong and you find so many cheering
them (Sheykh clapping his hands) saying, “Oh!!! You did good. Oh!!!”
You run after that girl, you catch the girl good and you finish her.
Ask yourself, if that girl was your sister would you have liked it?
Your mother? Question yourself. “Hmph! I don’t like it.” Good. Stop
it and discredit yourself. Say to yourself how ugly you are. Don’t
wait for somebody else to say to you. Say to yourself. Then you will
find you are making progress. Otherwise, Sheytan and ego will fool
you nonstop and others will praise you but when you reach to
difficulties you will find nobody’s around you except the Fire is
coming around you. Except snakes and scorpions coming around you,
you will find nobody else helping you.

Don’t forget, when you are in the deathbed no one can help you, no
doctor can help you too. You are looking for a doctor to help you
but he needs somebody else to help him. If Angel of Death says to
him, “Tak, your engine is stopped”, while he is making operation he
will die. So don’t hold on to the doctors. There you are alone. In
the grave you are alone. No one can help you. Think. You must think.
We must think. And we will only find what we have sent. We are going
to go into our own holes, our own graves. Whatever we send there
that’s what we are going to find. You are not going to find what he
sent or what this one sent. You are going to find what you have sent
there. I am going to find what I have sent there. So look to
increase your good deeds, look to increase your good intentions.

Islam is not selfishness. Islam is always saying, “You first, me
later.” Americanism and Westernism, all “isms” are saying, “Enjoy
yourself.” There is nothing to enjoy. Don’t worry. You are only
torturing yourself with that enjoyment. Nothing else. Learn how to
live in this life and learn how to do things in this life. You have
not been created, as they say, as monkey or donkey. You have been
given a human form and you must reach, you must bring that human
form to the spiritual (reality of) human also to go out from this
life. If you keep this form only physically human and your actions
and your intentions are like animals, without thinking whatever you
do, you do, then on the Judgment Day Allah will order the angels
saying, “Put two more legs to this one and keep him with the
animals. He didn’t keep the level of Humanity that We gave him. He
didn’t honor it and became animal.” You should progress and you
should change. Whoever says whatever to you, look at yourself. Look!
The things that you do, are they pleasing your spirit? In order for
them to please your spirit it must please your Lord. Look. Is it
pleasing your Lord? (If it is then) be happy. If it’s not, then be
sad and change. You can bring one million sheykhs, one million
imams, one million rabbis and you can bring everybody, but if they
say other than this then they are wrong too.

Your aim is not Dunya. Your aim is Akhirat. You have been created
not for this world. You have been created for the other world. You
are living in this world even if you want it or not. As much time
has been designated for you that much you are going to live. You
cannot die even if you want to. How many breaths of life are written
in your book, you are going to take that. It’s not by how many
years. No. It’s saying how many millions of breath you are going to
take and give out. If you know how to take your air and give out,
your life may expand. But instead of taking 100,000 air a day, you
take 200,000, you are living two days in one day. So your life is
getting shorter too. So our life is counted. It is being given to us
one by one (Sheykh breathes in and breathes out a few times). Don’t
spend it for nothing, don’t spend it foolishly, don’t spend it in
the wrong areas, don’t spend it because the majority of the people
are spending.

You enter into this place, some of you 6 o’clock, some of you 6:30,
some of you 7:00, some of you 7:30, some of you 8:00, 8:30. Half
hour passed, one hour passed, two hour passed. Those two hours that
have passed, if you say, “I will pay ten billion dollars to bring
that back”, you cannot. Whatever you filled up, your book is filled
up with it. You cannot change it. Twenty-four hours later it will be
sealed. Maghrib enters and the angels seal your books for that
twenty-four hours and they put it aside. You cannot change it after
that. You may make intentions for tomorrow to do more good deeds and
maybe in the Judgement Day it will erase the wrong things that you
did today but you cannot change that. You are going to go into the
Judgement Place with what it says in that book.

Know what you are doing and know how you are doing it. Behind the
walls nobody’s seeing you. But don’t think Allah and His angels are
not seeing you. There are special ones who are taking you in movie
cameras. In the Judgement Day Allah will make everybody to see what
you are doing. You may feel shame on the Judgement Day for what you
are doing and you should. And you should erase it. You should put
cross to the wrong books and ask Allah not to open it for you.

Wa min Allahu taufiq

Bihurmatil Fatiha. Amin.

This much is enough for you and for me until Judgment Day if you
don’t hear anything else. Keep it alive and you will win. You have
three ways of keeping this. One way is whatever you hear you put it
through one ear saying, “Whatever this guy is saying is idiotic.”
It’s okay. Put it out from the other ear and empty it. Don’t carry
it with you. (Sheykh smiles). If you didn’t like what you heard, put
it in from here and take it out from there.

If you like some of what you heard and some you didn’t, open the valve from here
(one ear), the ones you didn’t like get it out and keep the rest inside.

If you liked everything you heard then close this (ear hole) and keep it inside.
Who knows, one day you may find these words helping you.

free. Take it and give it, take it and give it. As much as you
carry, give it. It never finishes from where you are taking it.”
